Hello, dear friends!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with warmth, joy, and the promise of exciting beginnings! While I had hoped to celebrate with my grandchildren out West, a pesky tooth infection had other plans. Thanks to Dr. Reaves at Acadiana Endodontics, I'm back with a smile for 2024!

Now, let's dive into the rising fascination with condominium living!

I've noticed an uptick in clients expressing an interest in downsizing to condominiums. While it is sometimes a search for a college student's living arrangement, it is more and more commonly a request from my vintage visionaries who are ready for a new chapter in life - selling the family home and downsizing into a smaller living space.

In line with predictions for Louisiana Real Estate in 2024, there's an anticipated surge in demand for housing units, particularly from seniors seeking to downsize. As Meredith Whitney, Founder and CEO of Meredith Whitney Advisory Group, notes, the silver tsunami is upon us, with 10,000 people a day turning 65. By 2032, the entire baby boomer generation will be over 65, constituting 20% of the population.

Let's Dive Back In! So, what is a condominium? A condominium is an individually- owned residential unit in a building or complex comprised of other residential units. Condo owners share common spaces and pay association fees to maintain the common space, amenities, and other shared resources. Assessments are additional money contributions made by owners for larger or unexpected repairs.

So, why all of the interest?

  • Easy and hassle-free lifestyle
  • On-campus opportunities for exercise and socializing are abundant
  • Pets are welcome and areas for outdoor pet activities are in place
  • A sense of community
  • Continued pride of ownership and independence
  • Security services, such as gates, cameras, and patrols
  • Organized, shared maintenance of common areas
  • Conveniently located and often situated in areas with grocery stores, hospitals, drugstores, banks, etc.
  • Cost-effective and generally less expensive than a single-family home in the same area
